Hobby Update: Free Dwarf Brock Troops

The mustering of my mostly-Mantic, mostly-Free Dwarfs has slowed, but still continues, now with a pair of Berserker Brock Rider troops to join the ranks!

The troops!

These are built as-instructed. The box has two main sculpts for brocks, weapons, and capes. Four models looked very full, but also very "samey", so I tried to split them 2:1, thinking the odd number would give a little more visual interest, and allow for more dynamism. Three models per troop looked a bit empty though, so in the end, I added some additional foam rocks to busy-up the bases a bit more, and overall, I think this all works fine.

Another group shot, with the other troop leading.

As mentioned in other posts, I picked up the vast majority of my Dwarfs from second-hand bundles years and years ago. I have enough to run four regiment's worth of Berserker Brocks. These bring me up to three, and the fourth and final regiment is incomplete (missing some weapons and capes), so they might be fun to kitbash down the line... but honestly, had I known the 4E rules for list-building and for cavalry, I might have done things differently! I don't think it's wise to run this many units of TC cavalry these days - one regiment with the Boots seems like the way to do it - but I wanted a pair of troops for some build versatility. Notably, these troops are not swapped by the Berserker Lords, so having a few could give me some nice interdiction along with some build options, if I need some cheap specialist slots filled. We'll see what I come up with in the future!
