Hobby Update: Abyssal Moloch Regiments

Up now are some Moloch regiments for the forces of the Abyss!

Combined, as a horde.

This was not a unit I had on my radar. Hordes are the way I think I want to run almost all of my Large Infantry units, and I already have two hordes of these units made from these models. However, I saw this grouping in the consignment section of Gamer's Realm in June, and for the price, I had to pounce. With just four models, regiments seemed like the way to go here for hobbying.

A regiment.

On a whim, I made the tabards green, but the bulk of the rest of the painting and such is standard for my Abyssals, and consistent with the other Moloch units. If memory serves though, Army Painter "Wicked Pink" stood in for the the usual Pink Horror paint, as I just couldn't find the latter for months and months. Everything else is pretty standard, done quickly for these units as I put the finishing touches on the recent Def5 Abyssal Guard

A second regiment.

I was hoping to get more traction out of the Abyssals for the escalation league games this summer, but my hobbying pace was glacial and prevented me from starting a new army, and the once-a-month meetup wasn't enough to really bounce between armies, like the Varangur and Abyssals, as much as I might have hoped.

The bases connect via a lava pool on the left, so they can be run as a horde. That is probably the better way to run these, but maybe for an ambush game or demo game we'll try out the regiments sometime, just for fun.

In a highly unusual turn of events, life and accumulated responsibilities eased up a little bit for me in late July. I don't have oodles of free time, but have gotten a handful of hobby sessions in. None of the recent units are super-impressive, but it's been nice to spend some time with brush in-hand. My desk is officially cluttered again, so hopefully I'll have more hobby updates coming soon!
